Parish of St James has a diverse population, from many ethnic backgrounds

The building was designed by a local architect, Matthew Henry
Holding (1846-1910) in 13th century Gothic style. The font, pulpit,
high altar, and reredos
are all composed mostly of polished marble and alabaster. The many fine
art works include the Madonna & Child by Henry Moore. For over one
hundred years St Matthew's Church has been a focus of worship and prayer,
with daily services and this pattern continues today. It is perhaps one of
the most famous Churches in the country because of its longstanding choral
tradition.
